Reducing “Heat Loss” and insulating hot water piping can save you money on natural gas and help the boiler and heating system work more efficiently. In this video, we had just completed insulating all the piping in this new hydronic combination system as part of our complimentary service to annual maintenance package holders. When the copper, Pex or steel piping heats up, the pipes get hot; that heat is what we call “heat loss.” The natural gas or propane fuel you pay for is measured in BTU’s, the more heat loss from piping the more BTU’s per hour ($$$) just float away in the air.
